The PAR Board of Trustees (the Board) is composed of ten (10) representative members-at-large, officers and official representatives to other organizations. Vacant members-at-large are elected by a vote of the membership at the annual meeting held at the PAR Convention. Terms will be for three years with one third of the members-at-large standing for election each year. Seats on the board will be designated to insure representation as specified annually by the board at the organizational meeting held prior to the election. When a vacancy in a representative category exists, the candidate that qualifies in the criteria who receives the most votes will be elected to the board. After all representative categories are filled the remainder of the board vacancies will be filled by the candidates receiving the most votes. Vacant three year terms will be filled first, then two and one year terms. Board members will serve a three-year term and are eligible for re-election. The terms of office for board members and Officers begin January 1st and end December 31st. Officers shall be elected from the board of trustees and shall serve on the board as long as their term of office continues. Board of trustee members elected as President, President-Elect, Secretary/Treasurer and Past President shall not be required to stand for election as board members during their terms of office. At the next election of trustees their representative seat shall be considered vacant and open for election. Election of representative members-at-largeIn order to insure a broad representation of professionals in the field of disabilities PAR has established categories representing Service Areas and Organizational Areas. A Board member will represent both a service and organization area. Prior to the election, the Board shall determine the Service Areas and Organizational Areas that will be vacant. The election of members-at-large will first fill requirements for representation from service areas and organizational areas. Once the representative criteria are met, the remainder of the member-at-large openings will be filled by the candidates receiving the most votes. Each candidate for the Board is required to declare the Service Area and Organizational Area that best represents the current professional assignment. The nomination committee of the Board shall make final determination as to Service Area and Organizational Area designation. Candidates will be notified by the nomination committee if their designation has been changed. Service Area: Circle only the one Service Area that best matches the Service Area in which you work.
